May 13, 2012 - Gators & Friends

We left Baton Rouge Sunday morning to head into Texas and stopped just outside of Shreveport at Gators and Friends.  They have 4 alligator ponds as well as several different pens with other animals.  You can also buy food in the gift shop so you can feed the deer, camels, and zebra.  Then every couple of hours they feed the alligators and you can watch.

"Please sir, I want some more."
The animals all lined up when they saw people, hoping
there was food to be had.

" But look how cute we are!"  These goats made me feel really
bad about not splurging on food for the animals

The tiniest goat we saw, he's so cute!

We watched them feed the Big Alligators, it was pretty awesome!  I went a little nuts on the pics, so here are just a few of the really good shots....

This is the second biggest gator in the park...
he couldn't even bring himself to lift his head to eat the chicken

This is the biggest gator in the park, he hasn't been out of the water
in over a year.  He is too big to climb out of the water on his own

After the feeding they let you hold a baby alligator!

We of course had to stop in the gift shop and get presents for the kids (and Nate since he didn't get to stop on their trip) and then it was on to College Station!
